Whites still doubted blacks and their ability to learn, so they saw the school as some sort museum. Since, Northern Whites donated funds to the school, they were ever welcomed.

After the death of her mother, her father remarried quickly and shipped Zora off to Jacksonville, FL. Zora was silly and her father could not cave in her boarding bills at the school.
